Walk Down the Aisle, Walk Amongst the Stars

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the ole stomping grounds of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, is both a historic and iconic landmark. For over eighty years, celebrities have been using this space as their LA playground.  In 1969, this site gave birth to the first annual Academy Awards.   Situated in the heart of Los Angeles, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and across from the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the twelve-story facility houses hotspots such as the legendary poolside Tropicana Bar, Teddy’s, The Library Bar (complete with vintage bowling lanes), The Spare Room, and Beacher’s Madhouse.  The venue consists of over thirty event spaces, and can accommodate anywhere between 10 and 1,500 guests. Couples who chose to tie the knot at this venue will not only walk down the aisle, but in doing so, they will also walk amongst the stars.

Liberate Your Party

When looking for the perfect musical selection for your wedding, you want something that guests will remember. One of our favorite musical ensembles, 45 Riots, will “liberate your party.” Their cause: better music. Having shared the stage with artistic legends such as Alicia Keys, Adele, Stevie Wonder and many more. These native New Yorkers joined forces years ago and have acquired international acclaim. In fact, they’ve even won a Grammy! Their renditions of popular ballads will leave you amazed, and their dynamic style enables them to take the lead both on the stage and on the dance floor. Why are you waiting? Fan them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter, check out their blog, and peruse their website. Their sexy, sultry, and soulful sound will make you glad you did.

Inspired By: Fall 2012 Celebrity Makeup

With the sad realization that summer is almost half-way over, we are beginning to embrace fall/winter makeup trends . Celebrity makeup trends will forever inspire us but some styles will remain iconic longer than others. Regardless of whether or not they will remain trendy, all of these celeb inspired looks are guaranteed to make you look beautiful on your wedding day.

Mulberry Lip

Red lips continue to be a staple for fall/winter but this dark hue works with virtually every skin tone and will look amazing with a vintage glam themed ensemble. Before applying, be sure to use a lip exfoliator (we love Bliss’s Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub).

Try: NARS Lipstick in Fast Ride

Thick Black Eyeliner

Heavy eyeliner made a bold statement on the runway with Prada and Narciso Rodriguez and can easily used as a part of your wedding look. It’s intense but can look chic and less dramatic when applied only to the upper lid. Go for the look with a liquid or gel eyeliner and cat-eye.

Try: Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner

Multi-Toned Eyes

We’re loving this sultry look that will keep your groom mesmerized as you make your way down the aisle. On trend are colorful blue, green, and purple hues that play up your eye color . Keep it smoky by applying dark shadows or simply use colored eyeliner to make a dramatic statement.

Try: Stila’s In The Garden Eye Palette

If you’re intimidated by any of these looks, discuss alternatives with your makeup artist (or whoever is doing your makeup) and make it work for you and your personal style, and keep looking to the stars for makeup inspiration!

Inspired by: Celebrity Hairstyles

Choosing how to wear your hair for your big day is almost as stressful and challenging as choosing your dress. Together, your dress and hair should create a cohesive and elegant look, not one taking attention away from the other. Celebrities provide great inspiration for how to style your hair and keep it looking beautiful all night. The 2012 hair trends have provided us with striking inspiration, here are our top 5:

5. Faux Bob With a Chignon

Rachel Bilson’s hair gives you the option of mixing two hairstyles – a messy low bun and face framing waves. We love this look for a vintage Hollywood glam style wedding.

4. Ponytails

Ponytails come in a variety of styles. They bring more attention to your face but also have the ability to look extremely elegant.

3. Embellished Updo

Charlize Theron’s glam headband easily takes an ordinary low bun to something more elegant. Headbands and hair clips are easy accessories that can add an extra element to your ensemble.

2. Loose Waves

Sexy and effortless hair is always a good option if you’re in between styles. Loose waves not only look good for a beach wedding but can easily transition into fall and winter.

1. Braids

Braids, like ponytails, come in a variety of styles. Braids are unique and can give your ensemble unexpected elegance.

When choosing your style, remember to pair it well with your whole look and wedding style. Good luck!

Spring 2012 Trends Spotted at The Wedding Salon New York!

On Monday night we had the pleasure of hosting the most luxurious bridal event of the year at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City!

Brides’ fantasy weddings came to life when they entered the room and were greeted by a bride and groom under an exotic canopy complete with feathers, by Flora Design! It served as the forefront to gowns displayed by Jaehee Bridal Atelier and opened up the way to larger-than-life reception tables and booths presented by vendors from every aspect of the wedding industry!

Guests tasted cocktails from Hpnotiq, Qream and ONEHOPE Wine bars as they met top names in the industry including Colin Cowie, tried treats from Carlo’s Bakery of Cake Boss fame and were inspired by a reception table designed by celebrity event planner David Tutera himself!

We saw some of the biggest trends for this year’s spring and summer weddings in action with décor from touches of hot pinks and tangerines on shades of white with calla lilies and orchids, to floating crystal orbs accented by glamorous silver! A common thread through all of them was obvious over-the-top dramatic elegance.

Ariston Flowers and Events showcased this year’s trends perfectly with sky-high tiered cylinders that were filled with all-white calla lilies and dripping with orchids and crystal accents. Design House Décor also brought together the concept of sky-high centerpieces and floating crystal. They incorporated silver accents in their linens for a truly glam look!

Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings created a whimsical display with glass orbs and floating candles that hung from dramatic weeping willow branches.

We saw even more use of branches iced with crystal and gorgeous flowers with Extraordinary Productions, who focused on the concept that all-white tables are the ultimate Summer 2012 trend.

In-Tents Rentals gave us a great display of this all-white idea with their breathtaking canopies complete with white ostrich feathers and of course the touch of elegant orchids.

Despite loving all of the white, Pantone’s prediction that tangerine would be the “color of the year” was displayed perfectly by both Betty’s Total Events and Priam Vineyards, who both used popping shades of tangerines and corals on their reception tables for a striking presentation.

We saw so many gorgeous ideas and unique use of trendy materials like branches, feathers and crystals, and while some stayed with a traditional look, everyone was on their a-game when it came to reception décor on Monday!

Special thanks to our lovely hosts at the Metropolitan Pavilion, Ryan Brenizer Photography for the gorgeous photos, and all of the amazing brides and vendors that came out to The Wedding Salon!
