Stir & Sip

When done correctly, cocktails can add an extra element to your reception beyond the fact that they contain alcohol. They can be elegant, beautiful, and fun; at the same time they can be a huge waste of money. They add a signature touch that will impress guests but require careful planning (much like everything else that goes with planning a wedding) and shocker- only a few ingredients. Here are some ideas for alcoholic beauties that will enhance your reception and wow your guests.

Rose

Rose’s light and refreshing taste make it easy to mix with various liquors and simple ingredients. It’s beautiful pink color distinguishes it from traditional champagnes and fills every one’s glass with some color. Money saving tip- use a less pricey brand like Cook’s Sweet Rose California Blush Champagne ($6), you won’t be able to taste the difference.

Blushing Bride

2 oz passion-fruit nectar

3 oz champagne

1/2 teaspoon grenadine

Pour the chilled passion-fruit nectar into a champagne flute and carefully add champagne and grenadine- Don’t stir! It’ll blend on its own.

Beer

You read it right- that says beer. We’re not talking simple pony neck bottles of Heineken but fabulous cocktails that use it as the main ingredient. Your groom, groomsmen, and other male guests will love drinking a less “girly” cocktail and sipping one disguished with beer.

Mike’s Full Moon

1/2 bottle Mike’s Hard Lemonade

1/2 bottle Blue Moon Beer

Combine drinks in a glass, stir, and garnish with an orange slice.

Something Blue

If you weren’t able to add something blue to your wedding outfit, add it to your choice of cocktails. This is one for vodka lovers and can fit in well at a destination wedding reception as it’s colors are as vivid as the ocean.

Something Blue Martini

1 oz Bacardi Superior rum

1/2 oz blue curacao

2 oz pineapple juice

Stir or shake ingredients into a martini glass and garnish with a lime or orange wedge

Wedding Cake

Before you cut the cake, sip on sweet flavors that will get your taste buds excited for frosting and sugar. There are some delicious vodka flavors like UV Cake or Svedka Vanilla.

Wedding Cake Martini

2 oz vanilla vodka

1 oz pineapple juice

1 oz cranberry juice

1 tsp artificial sweetener ( or 1 packet)

Combine ingredients together with ice in a shaker. Shake well and pour.

Holidays

If you’re planning for a winter wedding, maybe sometime around the holidays, it can be fun to mix in the holiday spirit with your wedding celebration. The winter holidays provide so many delicious flavors, colors, and inspiration for beautiful cocktails that will get your guests in the mood for a celebration.

Eggnog Martini

1 1/2 oz dark rum

1 oz spiced rum

1 oz vanilla vodka

3 oz store bought eggnog

1/4 oz simple syrup

Crushed graham crackers (optional for garnish)

Cinnamon stick (optional for garnish)

Dip martini glass in water then into crushed graham crackers for garnish. Combine ingredients in an ice-filled martini shaker. Shake well, strain, and pour into a prepared glass and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Don’t be afraid of signature cocktails, we know how tricky they can be. Taste a few before deciding on “the one” and keep in mind guests distinct preferences. Always shake well and enjoy!

XoXo,

Tat
