Creating Classic Elegance With Modern Trends

High above the streets of wedding designer Jenny Yoo’s midtown Manhattan bridal salon, brides-to-be anxiously await an opportunity to learn about current trends from some of the best vendors in the wedding industry.  Our panel of seven vendors covered some of the key markets such as dresses, men’s wear, catering, music, photography, beverages, invitations, and travel, giving brides-to-be and the Wedding Salon helpful tips when it comes to trends.

  1. Nothing is more exciting than a far off destination. “Belize is the number one up-and-coming wedding and honeymoon destination. Couples are becoming more open to travel and are looking for the next exotic location,” said Tyler LaMont, destination specialist at Belize Tourism Board.
  2. Let your pictures tell a story. Brides should take the time to research and consider using two photographers. “Couples enjoy mixing photography styles and using expressive ideas,” said Michelle Jonne, founder of Michelle Jonne Photography.
  3. Know your music. Research is important when deciding who is creating the musical ambience at your reception. “Know what type of music you want, do your research, and listen to a showcase,” said Adam Mason, CEO of 45 Riots. Increasingly, couples are requesting personalized music that coordinates with their music preference.
  4. Your fiancés suit matters. With the option of made to measure suits, men can express their creative freedom through custom accents. “Our suits give the groom and groomsmen the ability to coordinate different styles that reflect their preferences,” said Carlos of Louis Purple.
  5. Vintage style as inspiration. Custom laser cut invitations give you the opportunity to focus on the vision of your wedding. “We help brides hand pick their designs to enhance the wedding experience,” said George Peck, founder of Mirror Mirror Designs.
  6. Small bites make a big impression. Using a tailor made menu and handmade passing trays adds a unique and elegant dimension to your wedding. “Focusing on one wedding at a time, we are able to customize every part of your menu. Right now, couples are using a lot of small bites instead of sit down dinners and buffets,” said Vanessa Wells, event planner at Neuman’s Catering.
  7. Make your wedding party feel comfortable. When it comes to bridesmaids, clean lines and strapless dresses are an easy way to compliment everyone’s body type. “Be open to your bridesmaids choosing their dress style and keep in mind their confidence when wearing the dress,” said Jenny Yoo, CEO of Jenny Yoo Bridal Salon.

While it may be difficult to incorporate current trends with the vision of your wedding, we hope the Wedding Salon and our vendors have helped ease your mind as you begin planning a unique wedding that compliments your style. What trends are you using in your wedding?

XoXo,

Tatiana
