Organic Catering

We all know that food is one of the most important aspects when planning a wedding.  Brides & Grooms alike stress over whether or not guests will enjoy their various samplings of gourmet appetizers, delicious seafood and juicy steaks.  Finding the perfect caterer is not easy, but I’m happy to say that I am thrilled with my pick – Blackstone Caterers. They not only gave us one of the best tastings imaginable, they provided the most romantic candlelit atmosphere and served us the most delicious, locally grown organic foods.

I try to eat organic as much as possible and do my best to buy locally grown food. When planning for my wedding I hoped to find a caterer that valued these choices, but was concerned about pricing. I was thrilled to discover that organic does not always equal more expensive. The quality of the foods and the flavors delivered by these organic ingredients and of course, Blackstone Caterers, were truly incredible.

Blackstone Caterers has a network of organic farms in Rhode Island providing them with sustainable organic foods and seafood that aren’t treated with chemicals of any sort.  The details in each ingredient from the Rhody Fresh Dairy Farm that produces milk without any growth hormones, to the local pesticide-free honey from Aquidneck Island, to the certified organic pastured beef and poultry from Simmons Farm. resulted in the perfect menu for our wedding day.

I know this will make you all very hungry, so posting this on a Friday is perfect! Here’s a peek into some of the amazing organic appetizers we enjoyed:

While I won’t be telling what will be on my wedding menu, I do have a few helpful tips when looking for an organic caterer.

  • Ask the venue – If you are using an outside caterer, ask the venue if they can recommend a caterer that uses organic and locally grown food.
  • Ask other vendors in the industry – Photographers and DJs  are the perfect people to ask, as they enjoy taste samplings at many weddings
  • Ask your friends – It turned out that one of my friends was using Blackstone as well! She had wonderful things to say about them which only made the selection easier.
